The illustration draws from the figure of Eve, the first woman, the one who bit into the apple of knowledge and was condemned to pain. But here, Eve isn’t a figure of shame. She’s a symbol of clarity, of truth-telling, of those who see through the noise and insist on speaking out, even when it costs them everything. She reminds us that knowledge may bring pain, but it also brings vision and that we would choose it again, even knowing the consequences. That, too, is amor fati.
