Legend tells the tale of Europa, a Phoenician princess who captured the attention of Zeus. Enchanted by her beauty, the God transformed into a white bull. Europa, charmed, caressed the gentle creature and even mounted his back. Suddenly, the bull surged towards the sea, carrying her away to Crete. There, Zeus revealed his true form, and they united. Heartbroken, Europa’s father sent her brother Cadmus to find her. While Cadmus never located his sister, he brought the gift of the alphabet to Greece. The name of the continent Europe itself stems from the princess Europa.
